Helping to reduce food waste across London
Art4Space are so pleased to work alongside The Felix Project. We are proud to be able to help reduce the food waste across London.
This has enabled us to have a delivery nearly every Friday and extras over the school holidays, as we get a van load of varied food. It has been really great and so useful! We get lots of fruit and vegetables, we’ve also had yogurt, drinks, chicken, fish and other meats, which many parents and participants say they find really helpful, because it’s the most expensive things to buy, and so they don’t always get to have that.
Parents have told us the kind of things that they are having to eat and live on, without this help from Felix we would not be able to support these families as we do. We don’t know what they would do without the help. Knowing that some children would probably go without food in the holidays is really sad. We know for some of the children, normally their main meal is the school meal, their parents struggle to cater breakfast and dinner. So there’s quite a lot of really deprived families that we are able to support, thanks to The Felix Project food, which is amazing!
Art4Space has received Create and Make boxes, which contain healthy surplus ingredients that can be used to make meals at home for families. It has been very helpful to educate families.
As part of our session we talked about healthy food, about where food comes from and we were encouraged to learn the skills of chopping and peeling and being creative.
” It’s really good, because I got to show the children what’s in the boxes and then we talk about, what could we make with these ingredients, what is healthy and it gives the children ideas before they take that box home.”

In 2024, Art4Space received almost 7,500 kilograms of food, which has made a huge difference! We use the food to cook meals and sometimes even as part of a session, getting parents and children doing the cooking. We also hold weekly collections for all to come and collect food which helps us reduce food waste. It’s invaluable, we use it in so many ways and because we serve so many families and young people, there’s no way we’d be able to afford to feed all of the families and also offer things they can take home without the Felix Project.

It has helped so many families and there is a huge need in our Community.
We have a WhatsApp group to advertise the food collection available times.
Please click here if you want to be added to our WhatsApp group for food distributions.
Last week we supported over 900 people in total. At Art4Space we will continue to support as many people as we can possibly do on a weekly basis. We know our numbers grow each week.
